In the backdrop of the world’s leading industrial companies, a rightful digital transformation is now underway. Every big and small company is on the verge of digitizing all its essential functions and processes. The term ‘Industry 4.0’ stands for the fourth industrial revolution.  Industrial 4.0 focuses on end-to-end digitization of all physical properties and their integration into digital ecosystems and it promises seamless generation, analysis, and communication of data. India is a land of several opportunities since we have a handful of resources. Our country has the right combination of manufacturing hubs, innovations, and technology to facilitate industry 4.0.

The Indian government has commenced several initiatives to promote industry 4.0, which are based on advanced manufacturing, the Internet of things, Blockchain, Cyber-physical Systems, and Artificial intelligence. Industry 4.0 demands the skills up-gradation of young minds. The all India council for technical education and several other sector skill councils and premier institutions together compiled the curriculum and course syllabus synergized with the national policies of industry 4.0

Samarth Udyog Bharat 4.0

Smart Advanced Manufacturing and Rapid Transformation Hub (SAMARTH) Udyog Bharat 4.0 is an ambition by the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI) under the aegis of the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India.  The initiative is for raising awareness among manufacturing units about industry 4.0 and also to adopt the best practices with the help of various demonstration centers such as the advanced center of excellence, integrated industrial infrastructure facilities, common engineering facility centers, testing and certification centers, and technology acquisition fund schemes.

The government of India has solidified a center of excellence (CoE) in industry 4.0. Coe plays a vital role to educate young minds on futuristic technologies.

Projects and events of CoE

The center of excellence in automated manufacturing is time-honored as a technical training center by the ministry of railways at the integral coach factory at raeberalli with several technological infrastructures. The CoE by world economic forum, Mumbai endorses AI, ML, blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, Drones, IoT, and robotics as well as smart cities.

HITAM ( Hyderabad Institute of technology and management) launched The robotic center of excellence with the association of TIMTS and was approved by the national productivity council, Ministry of education, Government of India. The major goal of this robotics center is to upskill young aspirants and help them to participate in various national and international events. The CoE is supported by the all India council for robotics and automation, a non-profit organization setting up standards in robotics and automation. The software technology parks of India also established a center of excellence as part of industry 4.0 for promoting technological startups in India. As part of industry 4.0, IISC Bangalore and IIT Delhi modeled smart factories to facilitate technological innovations and train talent development.

The Indian initiatives of industry 4.0 focus on manufacturing products for the global market using innovative technologies and embrace the fourth technological revolution
